Noémi Bélanger :: Workshop at the Montréal Centre For Contemporary Textiles (2020)

Updated: Oct 25, 2021

Noémi Bélanger will be giving a needle-felting workshop at the Montréal Centre For Contemporary Textiles on March 20, 21 and 22, 2020.

The Montréal Centre For Contemporary Textiles (MCCT) is a non-profit organization and charity whose mission is to provide professional instruction in the skills required for the design and production of textiles. MCCT works with people passionate about making textiles and with professionals, semi-professionals and amateurs. The school is active in promoting contemporary textile creations through exhibitions, conferences and gatherings.

In this workshop, participants will learn the basics of needle-felting while creating their own original sculpture with wool and a metal armature. The only prerequisites are patience, curiosity and a sense of humour. Spaces are limited to eight. The workshop is completed over 15 hours.

Noémi Bélanger holds a DESS in contemporary puppet theatre from UQAM, where she specialized in the creation of puppets using the needle felting technique. In 2018, she founded her company L’os de bois, Théâtre de marionnettes and received a development grant from CALQ and the City of Laval, in collaboration with the Conseil régional de la culture de Laval. Intended for both young audiences and adults, his shows reflect his reflection on the human condition.
