Nuno silk chiffon scarf workshop with Laurie Steffler Date: Thursday, September 26, 2019 Time: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM Place: North Island College, Port Alberni Cost: $150.00 plus $35 supplies
Workshop Description:
In this workshop participants will create a double-sided felt scarf with merino wool and silk chiffon. They will learn how to:
join different silk fabrics
create holes and openings for fastening the scarf in place
make felt leaves and vines that trail off the silk chiffon border
make flower designs that can become button fasteners
learn colour-layering and how to incorporate embellishments like silk hankies.
They will also learn tips and techniques that will make the felting process as easy and fast as possible.

Workshop Description:
In this workshop participants have two options, they can:
learn how to create a resist for a seamless felt bag, sculptural vessel or bowl (For this Laurie will demonstrate how a resist can include protrusions for sculptural features, a long coil for a strap and how to include pockets for cell phones). Or,
learn how to create a seamless hat with a resist. Here participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of how to incorporate embellishments and how to shape and sculpt wool.
