During our 2018 Canadian Felt Symposium, we were lucky enough to be able to chat with some of the artists participating in the 2018 felt :: feutre canada exhibition, SHRINE.
Jennifer Tsuchida created the work, Self-Reverence, for this exhibition.
From Jennifer’s artist statement:
Self-Reverence is a tactile homage to self; a celebration and veneration of who one is at their core. One cannot possibly love and respect others if, at one’s core, the love and respect doesn’t first come from within. Self-Reverence encourages viewers to delve deep within themselves to find, embrace, and revere their uniqueness. Through the exploration of techniques outside of my felting comfort zone (employing photography, painting, hand-dying, and crocheting) a renewed appreciation and respect of self has blossomed.
