FELT:: FEUTRE’s Annual General Meeting will be Saturday, September 26th, 2020 @ 9:00 am PST, 10:00 am MST, 10:00 am CST, 12:00 pm EST & 1:00 pm ATL.
This meeting is very important for members. It’s an opportunity to hear from our President: Violet Racz as well as hear from the Workshop Committee, Exhibition Committee, and Membership Coordinator, Sandra Barrett.
One of the most exciting parts of the agenda will be the election of Officers to the Executive Board and Committees. Two of these nominees, Gwen Kerr who’s interested in the Treasurer position, and Veronica Graves, who will be on the Workshop Committee, have graciously allowed us to interview them. We are very appreciative.
Veronica has been an artist her entire life. From her childhood passion of finger paintings to her passion these days for painting and jewelry design, she’s always found ancient techniques for art captivating. When she found felting, it was love at first sight. She absolutely loves the versatility of the felting and how it soothes her soul. She says, “When I’m not chasing my busy toddler around, I’m in my studio; my happy place.”
Why do you want to be on the board? I want to be part of the board or committee so I can help come up with great workshops for everyone. I hope I can help coordinate some exciting people to teach us amazing things!
What do you bring to the board? I think I bring an open mind and collaborative approach to the committee. I love really getting to know people and their stories.
What do you enjoy about the felting community? It might sound cliché but I enjoy meeting others that share the same interests. It’s so nice to have a group of people who understand my obsession, haha. I love getting the updates on other great artists and felt related news around the world.
Gwen is interested in taking on the role of treasurer. She says, “Participating as a board member for felt :: feutre canada will give her the opportunity to give back to the felting community for all it has given her: numerous and varied learning opportunities, a community of fabulous like-minded women, and enduring friendships. All of which have enriched her life immeasurably.”
What you bring to the board?
The position of Treasurer fits for me – I’ve always been at ease with numbers and have managed budgets in both private and public sector jobs, as well as kept books for small businesses.
What you enjoy about the felting community?
I’m looking forward to supporting our community in this new role and to meeting and getting to know more of our members along the way.
Thank you Veronica and Gwen for taking part in these interviews. We look forward to getting to know you.
