Sandi Luck :: Meet our new Executive Board Secretary (2021)

Recently we interviewed Sandi. We’re sure you’ll enjoy getting to know her.

What do you love about felting? I tend to work intuitively rather than planning, so whatever I end up with is often a surprise. I like the anticipation of seeing the piece come together and the merging of different colours.

Why did you decide to be on the Felt Feutre board? Decided to volunteer as it seemed that there were not going to be enough other people stepping up. The current executive and Fiona have put so much work into felt::feutre already, and I really didn’t want to lose that. I have been a member of other arts boards, and it is always disappointing when things don’t succeed because of executive burnout and lack of volunteers. Hoping to assist with some of the difficult decisions that may have to be made for the next symposium.

What do you hope to learn from the experience? It will be interesting to see how the organization works with having to cover such a large geographic area. I look forward to meeting felters from across the country.

What are you felting now? I recently completed an online jewellery course with Lisa Klakulak that was offered through NSCAD. I learned a lot of new technical information and am looking forward to incorporating it in some jewellery pieces. I like to incorporate random stitching and beading onto the felt.
