Workshop Dates :: Tuesday May 7th to Friday May 10th, 2019
I’ve Got You Under My Skin
This 4-day workshop is designed to deepen the felting experience, especially when it comes to the process of exploring different sculptural forms. Students will explore sculptural themes such as: folding and unfolding, building relief, and adding shape to another surface, in order to become more aware of how and why, we, the artist use this medium. The main thrust of this workshop will be an exploration of wearable sculpture and discovering the inspiration behind the craft.
During the first few days, the focus will be on the processes of shortening, thickening, tightening and shrinking of felted surfaces. Later students will create their own unique wearable designs. Emphasis will be placed on basics like colour, design, and conceptions of an artwork.
Students will be challenged to play with their own designs using sculptural felting techniques, while deepening their awareness of the creative process with an accent on the idea of journey. This is an experimental discovery workshop. At the end of each day there will be a class discussion devoted to these new creations in order to heighten awareness of color and design choices. An exhibition of all work will complete the course.
WORKSHOP FEE: $585.00 for 4 days.
Some felting experience required. Maximum of 12 students.
