Leah Cathleen Donald of ArtFelt Studio is at Edmonton’s The Fibre Nook this weekend (April 6th & 7th) teaching two felting classes: Wet Felted Birdhouse & Needle felting Art
Wet Felted Birdhouse: Saturday, April 6, 2019
Wet felting is thousands of years old and has a rich history in many cultures. In this class, you will learn about different breeds of wool & their properties. The class will start with making a sample piece of felt from roving to help us understand the unique, natural properties of wool. From there, you will put your new-found knowledge into making a felted birdhouse. These pods can be hung outside and will last for a few years.
Wet felting is a hands-on, sometimes messy process. Wear comfortable clothes you won’t mind getting a little wet. All supplies are included in the class.
Date: Saturday, April 6 from 9 am to 3 pm, with a 45-minute lunchbreak
Cost: $95 + GST; includes required $15 supply kit.

Needle felting Art: Sunday, April 7, 2019
Needle felting is a fun way to create art using roving wool. Bring a reference photo or image of a landscape or flower to recreate into a felted art piece. You will learn about wool properties, wool processing, and how to properly use materials and tools to needle felt. All supplies will be provided in the class.
Date: Sunday, April 7 from 9 am to 3 pm, with a 45-minute lunchbreak

Instructor Bio: Leah Cathleen Donald
Leah Cathleen is an award winning artist, an artist member of the Leighton Art Centre and an experienced teacher of both children and adults. She is eager to share her love of felting with her students. Leah’s experience includes teaching school field trips at the Leighton Art Centre for over 11 years, leaving to pursue her love of teaching felting. In the Autumn of 2010 Leah started ArtFelt Studio, watching it grow steadily each year. Leah is happy to welcome new instructors to the ArtFelt Studio team.
