Knotty by Nature :: Feltmaking Supplies & Workshops in Victoria, BC

Knotty by Nature is a lovely wool store located in Fairfield, Victoria, BC. Founded in 2008 and owned by Ryan and Stephanie. The shop’s mandate is to be a “welcoming place, for novices to experts, to explore the fibre arts.”

They offer a host of service including “knitting needle exchange,” a community bulletin board, and on-site drum carding. They sell local fibres, yarns, handspun wool, and unique locally handmade gifts.​

Throughout the year they hold a variety of workshops in: frame loom weaving, macramé, creative stitch work, silk fusion, and felting. Their fantastic line-up of teachers includes: Ryan Davis, Robynne Heard, Caitlin French, Dela Wilkins, and Rhonda Ganz.

Wet Felting Basics are taught the third Saturday of Every Month.

Time 10:00-1:00 Class fee: $45

Workshop Description: Discover the magic of wet felting in this beginners class. You will learn the basics of wet felting techniques: felted balls, cords, ropes and flat felt.

Nuno Felting workshops are available by appointment.

Class fee: $75Groups of up to 4 people are welcome.

Workshop Description: Learn how to create a beautiful piece of fabric with merino wool with sheer silk chiffon. Nuno felt is lightweight with drape, flexibility, and luxury, making it a beautiful fabric to work with and wear. This is an advanced felting class, knowledge and experience in felt making is essential to learn as much as you can.
