Updated: Oct 27, 2021

It’s been a good year so far for Focus Pokatus the brainchild of Quebec fibre artist, Kathryne BourgeoisThe company is now an an official seller for DHG, World of Wool  and Wolknoll.

Focus Pokatus is also selling books by the fabulous Ellen Bakker. Members will remember Ellen from this year’s 2018 Canadian Felt Symposium. Her workshops were very popular.

Look for Focus Pokatus this summer at TWIST, Canada’s biggest fibre festival. Kathryne will be  offering a class on building a felted polar bear with an armature. This piece will be very detailed.

Back by popular demand, June 14-16th, Focus Pokatus is holding another workshop with Marjolein Dallinga in Gore, Quebec. This workshop is a 3-days sculptural felting and dyeing workshop. Lunches are included. The workshop cost is $575.00 and $10.00 fee for dyes, provided by Marjolein.

On a personal level, Kathryn has recently enjoyed some artistic triumphs. She was asked by the City of Vercheres, Quebec to participate in an exhibit last October and won the ”Coup de Coeur.” This felted piece was sent to Africa.

In October she announced she’ll be at the city’s Salon de Métiers d’Arts as well as des Métiers d’arts de Lorraine where she was a past recipient of the People’s Choice award.

Her work will be exhibited at Maison Garthe from May 24th to June 2nd, 2019.

From August 1st to October 31st, Kathryn has a solo show at the Hotel de Ville de Lorraine, Québec. At the same time, she will be in Edmonton at the  Edmonton Weaver’s Guild to participate in Gladys Paulus Masterclass for Animal Masks, a workshop, she’s been waiting three years to do.
