Jennifer Tsuchida :: Workshop during Symposium 2018

Updated: Oct 30, 2021

Jennifer Tsuchida is a Toronto based felt artist, who employs both traditional and modern techniques in her fibre work. She was one of our talented tutors at the 2018 Canadian Felt Symposium.

Jennifer had this to say about her experience teaching: “In my hand felted wall sculptures and sculptural bags workshops at this year’s Canadian Felt Symposium, the students created one-of-a-kind wall sculptures and bags through traditional wetfelting and the contemporary techniques of nuno, sculptural, and shibori felting. The workshop participants expressed themselves through colour, texture, design, and idea.

Encouraging the exploration and experimentation of sculptural surface design techniques was a key element in these classes and explore they did, indeed! They each adopted the techniques that I taught them and let their imaginations be their guide. I immensely enjoyed going on this sculptural felting journey with them and watching their ideas take flight!”

These beautiful photos of Jennifer’s workshop were provided by Anne Armstrong, Cindy Morin and Chris Trotter. Special thanks for sharing with us. We are very appreciative.
